New Zealand’s leading T20I run-scorer Martin Guptill announced his retirement from international cricket on Wednesday. The 38-year-old had last represented the Kiwis in a T20I against Bangladesh in 2022.
In his 13-year international career, Guptill played 367 international matches, including 198 ODIs, 122 T20Is and 47 Tests. He scored 3,531 runs in his T20I career at a strike rate of 135.70, laced with two hundreds.

His aggregate of 7346 runs in ODIs is the third-highest for the Black Caps behind only Ross Taylor and Stephen Fleming. Guptill’s 237 against West Indies in Wellington in 2015 remains the highest score in an ODI World Cup and the second-highest score overall.
Guptill continues to navigate the world playing multiple T20 leagues where he has amassed 9798 runs in 349 matches with a strike rate of 31.70.
